Leading edge industry:

The Enterprise Zone builds on Lancashire’s outstanding record of innovation, capabilities, experience and skills – with an array of leading edge advanced engineering and manufacturing businesses including the single largest concentration of aerospace activity in the UK. There are 20,000 people employed in aerospace in the county, key to the North West of England’s status as the fourth-largest aerospace cluster in the world.

High-tech hub:

The Zone is anchored by BAE Systems across its two sites at Samlesbury and Warton, which are central to delivering the firm’s export orders currently valued at over £19 billion. Businesses based on the Enterprise Zone have an unrivalled opportunity to benefit from the hi-tech supply chain created by British next-generation combat aircraft, the Lockheed Martin F-35, which is contracted to be built at the two sites over the next 25 years.

World class facilities:

At over 2400 metres long, Warton’s aerodrome has one of the longest runways in the UK. The airfield has top security facilities, giving peace of mind for businesses in commercially sensitive sectors. The Zone will also benefit from the £350m investment in local transport infrastructure taking place over the next decade as part of the government-backed City Deal programme.
