The ideal location for advanced engineering in the marine, aerospace and technology sectors
Fareham College’s new £12m Centre for Advanced Engineering Skills Training (CEMAST) will open to Students in September 2014 and be the new home for its automotive, engineering and manufacturing courses. The site will be the central training facility for more than 900 students and act as the main centre for apprenticeship programmes.
A £5.3m innovation centre offering office space and workshop facilities for new local businesses, will attract high growth companies to the zone. The project will open in 2015 and aims to create around 150 new jobs.
The Solent has a major cluster of marine businesses supported by specialist technology and training facilities at Southampton and Solent Universities and a highly experienced skills base. A marine slipway is available directly into the Solent to transport large structures from the EZ. There is also an operational airfield suitable for small aircraft including business jets on the Enterprise Zone. Current businesses on the Zone include Marine Concepts who manufacture boat hulls and deck sections for some of the most well known leisure boat builders in the UK.

82 hectares of decommissioned Royal Navy airfield on the Gosport Pennisula west of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton. The site has marine access and retains a private operational runway that is currently applying for commercial flying authorisation.
