Funding to accelerate development in Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone

Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone is set to receive a further £3.5 million in Government funding to help bring its infrastructure projects forward.

The fund, which is subject to due diligence, will build on the vast increase in activity already happening within the Zone, improving its electricity substation infrastructure and helping with land remediation at Nunn Mills.

Cllr David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said:

“This is great news and demonstrates the Government’s confidence that we can deliver. It is the third announcement about Northampton Waterside Enterprise Zone in just the past week, leaving no doubt about the amount of progress being made.

“This is a particularly exciting time for our town.”

Dr Ann Limb, Chair of South East Midland LEP, added:

“At least £2 billion a year up to 2020 for Local Enterprise Partnerships will help us to help stimulate jobs and growth. We recognise the real cuts being made across many government departments, so this is a positive step and our job now is to ensure we make the strongest possible business case in order to access future funding for the South East Midlands.”
