CIS UK, a provider of building facilities, has selected the Aerohub Enterprise Zone at Newquay Cornwall Airport as the preferred location for its UK operations.

Originally established in Australia to supply mining companies with the facilities they require to run a mine and look after their staff, from administration buildings to accommodation, CIS has expanded into the global marketplace with CIS UK, formed to create a presence in the Northern hemisphere.

A spokesman from CIS UK, said: “We chose Aerohub as the base for our UK operations because of the ease at which we could set up there. Newquay Cornwall Airport is an ideal location; it is less than one hour’s flight from London Gatwick, allowing our international clients to reach us very easily. We are excited that CIS UK is linked to such a worthwhile local development and hope to become one of the forerunners in seeing this Enterprise Zone flourish. The airport has shown its worth during the recent extreme weather conditions and will bring tremendous value to businesses in Cornwall.”

CIS UK is already using four local businesses to support its business launch and expects its arrival to generate employment for between 10-20 local people once the company is fully established.

Chair of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, Chris Pomfret added: “We are delighted that CIS UK has chosen Aerohub as the base for its UK and Northern Hemisphere operations. CIS UK will not only boost the local industry by offering new employment opportunities, it also matches the aspirations of the Aerohub development in terms of supporting growth in the local supply chain.”

The Enterprise Zone is being led by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership and Cornwall Council, as the owners of the airport and surrounding land.  They have co-commissioned Cornwall Development Company, the Council’s arm’s length development company, to deliver the project alongside Cornwall Airport Limited as the operator of the Airport.
