Development works start in Aire Valley Leeds Enterprise Zone

Aire Valley Leeds Enterprise Zone has started the development work on its Logic Leeds site.

Phase one of the project involves the construction of 200 metres of highway to link the site with the A63 East Leeds Link Road.

Councillor Richard Lewis said:

“It is great to see work starting on Logic Leeds. This is a key site within the Aire Valley Enterprise Zone with high prominence and great links to the motorway. Once developed this site will provide high quality industrial and warehouse units and will offer excellent employment opportunities for the area.”

This £500,000 phase of infrastructure works is due to be completed in August 2013.

Adrian Taylor, director at Eric Wright Civil Engineering, the company employed to deliver the first phase, said:

“We are proud to be the first firm to start work on this impressive development and look forward to completing Phase One so that further phases of the development can continue.”

As well as the standard package of benefits, business rates discounts, simplified planning and high speed broadband, the council has developed a tailored package including development funding and recruitment and training support to make it easier for companies moving to the Zone.

Neil McLean, Chair of the Leeds City Region LEP said:

“Investing in strategic improvements in and around theAireValleyis imperative for the future of the Zone, but also strengthens our offer to businesses and the city region economy. Starting the works is great news and delivering the scheme in such a short time means businesses locating in the zone can enjoy even better access in just a few months’ time”.

Logic Leeds is one of four sites being developed as part of the Zone, along withNewmarket Lane, Thornes Farm andTempleGreen. The sites cover a total of 142 hectares and are all located along theEast Leeds Link Road, the dual carriageway that linksLeedscity centre to Junction 45 of the M1.
